Two Arab legends to perform at Winter at Tantora festival

ALULA, December 10, 2019

Saudi Arabia's Winter at Tantora is back for its second season. Running from December 19 to March 7, the international arts, culture, music and heritage festival will be hosting two Arab legends over the course of one phenomenal weekend this month.

Aziza Jalal, the iconic singer whose voice defined the golden-era of Arabic classical and pop music, returns to the stage after a 30-year hiatus. Fans of the singer, who have waited for her return, can finally catch her on December 26, kicking off this season’s roster of performances in the magnificent new Maraya Concert Hall.

The following day (December 27), Omar Khairat will return to Maraya Concert Hall’s spotlight, for a blockbuster performance that will include a brand-new composition that the Egyptian virtuoso created in celebration of AlUla and its rich history and unique landscape. The soaring piece, which harmoniously brings together the full range of his orchestra to culminate in a crescendo, will ring through the festival this season.

Themed Mystical Middle East, the second weekend of the festival taps into the otherworldliness of AlUla’s landscape. From stargazing expeditions to astrology sessions, the weekend brings a new facet of AlUla into sharp relief. Music will anchor the weekend and in addition to the two lead performers, oud players from around the region will provide the soundtrack to the weekend.

In addition, visitors can continue to experience the rich history and heritage of the Old Town of AlUla through a variety of activities.
