BRCS pledges coordination with Lebanese counterpart

Bahrain Red Crescent has affirmed its keenness to sustain effective coordination with the Lebanese Red Cross to provide all possible relief and humanitarian support to the victims of the Beirut Port explosion, most of whom are still in dire need of that support after losing their homes and sources of income.
 
This was discussed by BRCS Director-General/Act General Secretary Mubarak Al Hadi and Ali Kadhem, Head of Public Relations and Member Affairs Committee, at a recent meeting  organised by the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization.
 
The meeting saw thw participants assess the humanitarian situation in Beirut to maintain the society’s support. 
 
Al Hadi pointed out that the BRCS responded as quickly as possible to assist those affected by the explosion in the Beirut port, and extended a helping hand to them within the framework of the available resources.
 
"We praise the significant efforts exerted by the Lebanese Red Cross in coordinating Arab and international relief efforts, implementing rescue and relief operations and other services, and providing timely information regularly about the requirements of the humanitarian situation in Beirut," he noted.
 
"They played a pioneering role as a reliable partner in delivery of aid to the brotherly Lebanese people," he added.
 
Lebanese Red Cross Secretary-General George Kettaneh, gave a presentation on the efforts of the Lebanese Red Cross in the affected area, like blood transfusion, providing essential aid such as food baskets and hygiene kits, providing shelters, primary health care, medical examinations, and distributing medicines and psychological support through the existing teams on-site, in addition to family reunions.
 
Kettaneh additionally reviewed how the relief aid was delivered according to the statistical survey that was conducted by the Lebanese Red Cross teams, and the challenges they faced, and how they work to overcome these challenges to continue providing support to those affected on Lebanese soil to preserve their dignity.-TradeArabia News Service
