Tennis teen sensation Raducanu named BA ambassador

LONDON, December 27, 2021

British Airways has named Emma Raducanu, the 19-year old tennis ace who is currently ranked British number 1 and world number 19, as its new global ambassador.

In September, Raducanu became the first British woman to win the US Open women's singles since 1977, catapulting her into the big league.

British Airways said it has a long-standing history of supporting national sporting events and teams and the flag carrier will now be Raducanu’s first British brand partner.

It hailed Raducanu who was recently named BBC Sports Personality of the Year - as "the very best of British talent".

The company's brand and customer experience director, Tom Stevens, said: "As we look ahead to the world opening up again, we’re excited to be supporting the very best of British talent, Raducanu."

The new partnership is the latest in a line of big sponsorship deals for Raducanu, including the likes of Tiffany & Co and Dior.

"Raducanu and her team were proudly carried back to Britain with British Airways, and we will continue to support her as we fly her around the world for training and tournaments, including 2022’s French and US Open, and the Master’s events in Rome and California," he stated.

As well as tennis, she shares our passion for aviation, and is particularly encouraging of women joining the industry, he added.

In a statement, Raducanu said: "British Airways has taken such good care of my team and I ever since the US Open and I have felt their support everywhere I have flown."

"To be partnering with such an iconic British brand that can play a big role in my performance makes a lot of sense to me. I’m fascinated by aviation and we have some interesting projects planned together," she added.
