Bahrain slices bread prices
Manama, February 11, 2008
The Bahrain cabinet has agreed on extra bread subsidies of BD3 million ($7.9 million) to keep down the prices. All types of bread will be subsidised to balance the increased cost of ingredients.
This means that a 50kg bag of flour will be sold to bakeries for BD2 instead of the current BD2.700
Yesterday's (Sunday) session, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, also agreed to send aid to Gazan and Afghan people.
Aid will be presented in the name of Bahrain to emphasise the country's solidarity with brothers in Gaza who labour under Israel's arbitrary and barbarian blockade and also help the Afghan people surmount the cold weather sweeping northern parts of their country, said a statement.-TradeArabia News Service
