Dubai eGovernment launches 'mPay'

Dubai eGovernment has launched "mPay," a mobile payment service designed to provide an efficient and comfortable means of paying government fees in Dubai.

The new payment scheme has been part of an ongoing programme to boost online adoption of government services and help improve performance and customer satisfaction within all government departments.

Utilising the highly secure Dubai eGovernment ePay system, which is compliant with "Verified by Visa" and Master Card's "SecureCode" programs, the new service joins Dubai eGovernment's portfolio of innovative electronic solutions.

The 'mPay' facility has been initially launched to provide electronic recharge of Salik accounts, while it will be expanded to include several government services in the near future, said a top official.

"Dubai eGovernment has been actively pursuing innovative solutions that are in tune with the ongoing transformation of Dubai as a global economic hub. In a society where speed and efficiency are key factors for success, the availability of online platforms is imperative and crucial to sustaining the desired growth levels," said Salem Al Shair, eServices director, Dubai eGovernment.

"The mPay service has been specifically designed to serve this purpose, providing a quick and easy means to settle government fees for people who are always on the move," he added.

"The registration for the mPay service is free and clients just have to sign up on mPay's web portal once. After completing the required entry fields, an activation code will be sent to the user's email address."

"The activation code will then have to be sent via SMS to 4488 using the user's registered mobile phone number. After this process, a PIN will be sent via SMS to the user, which will be used for all mPay transactions," he explained.

Aside from facilitating the activation of mPay accounts and offering Salik recharge services, several information regarding other key features of the mPay service are also available on the mPay website.

The portal also provides answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) such as how to use the service, how to register, what credit cards are accepted, how many Salik accounts can be registered, how to make a payment, can a user send an SMS in Arabic, how secure is the system, who to contact for help and several other possible queries by users.-TradeArabia News Service
