MTV Arabia has named Karl Wolf as the 2008 winner of the coveted Best MTV Arabia New Act at the prestigious EMA music awards (MTV's European Music Awards).

The trophy was presented to Wolf at a grand ceremony held at the Dubai Press Club in the presence of leading personalities from the music and media industries.

Wolf will be heading to Liverpool on November 6 to perform at the MTV European Music Awards. Fans across the globe have been voting for Wolf to represent the Middle East in one of the most prestigious events in the world.

“The event is a strong reflection of the values of MTV Arabia in terms of its commitment to support talented Arabic stars. Our objective is to let them brush shoulders with some of the most respected artists in the world and enable them to perform as representatives of our language and culture,” said Samr Al Marzouqi, channel manager of MTV Arabia.

Karl Wolf, one of the most successful exponents of music in the UAE and a star songwriter and producer in the R&B genre, was born in Lebanon but raised in Sharjah until he moved to Canada.

Wolf won the award over other artists such as Abri, Carole Samaha, Fayez Al Saeed, and Mohammed Hamaki.-TradeArabia News Service
