DED and DSC sign data sharing deal

Dubai, January 15, 2009

The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) and Dubai Statistics Centre (DSC) have signed a co-operation agreement to collect, analyse and publish statistical and economic data for the emirate.

The agreement will consolidate and improve access to the information, and provide a mechanism to measure the emirate’s performance against the objectives outlined in the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015, said a DED official.

The Dubai Statistics Centre will provide DED with all available data and statistical information to support the Department’s economic studies, research publications and bulletins. It will also support the DED with the design and implementation of statistical surveys. The DED, in turn, will share its resources with the Centre.

Director general, DED, Sami Al Qamzi and CEO, DSC, Arif Obeid Al Muhairi signed the agreement at DED headquarters on Thursday.

“Accurate economic and statistical data is critical for investors and businessmen, and the DED is committed to providing quality and timely information to these core groups,” Al Qamzi said. “This is part of our mandate to promote economic growth in the emirate and welcome more participants to share in Dubai’s success story.”

“The co-operation agreement with DED is a step towards creating greater international visibility for Dubai by documenting the Emirate’s achievements in a systematic and well-researched manner. This agreement is an example of our commitment to the development and progress of Dubai,” said Al Muhairi.- TradeArabia News Service
