Top speakers for conference on coastal degradation

Thirty prominent speakers from the UAE and around the globe will deliberate on issues concerning coastal degradation across the Mena region at a two-day conference starting tomorrow (January 20) in Abu Dhabi.  

The specialized conference themed ”Sustainable Management for Coastal Zones” will see key stakeholders involved in the management of the region’s coastal zones network, discuss solutions to coastal degradation.

The conference is organized by Reed Exhibitions in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water (MoEW).

The Conference will take place in parallel with the Environment 2009 Exhibition, from January 20 – 21, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

The conference will focus on environmental solutions for water, waste and air pollution in the Mena region.

Speakers include representatives from leading public and private sector organizations including Abu Dhabi Municipality, Dubai Municipality, Al Ain Municipality, Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority, Gulf Research Centre, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, Emirates Aluminium, Aldar Properties, Mott MacDonald, Qatar Petroleum, the German Engineering Federation, Bauer Emirates Environment,  Global Scan Technologies and Mouchel. 

Among the topics that will be discussed are: governmental policies related to the management of air, water and waste; challenges and practical solutions in environmental management; strategic planning in air quality management and the role of public-private partnerships in the sector. A number of case studies will also be presented at the conference.
