Friends of ASD launches concert series
Doha, October 14, 2009
The Friends of the American School of Doha (ASD) has launched a series of seven classical music concerts, called the Chamber Music Series for 2009 and 2010, an important event in Qatar’s cultural calendar.
The concert series opens at the end of October with the inaugural performance at the ASD theatre, and will run until May 2010, with the International Bank of Qatar (IBQ) serving as sponsor of the series.
Incorporating classical, opera, operetta and traditional folk music, this series brings an exceptional class of musical performance to the Qatari capital – including both locally based musicians and major new talent from abroad.
“On behalf of everyone at the American School of Doha, and music lovers across the country, I am delighted to announce the launch of this new season of musical performances,” said Edwin Ladd, director, ASD.
“As Qatar continues to experience unparalleled economic growth, it remains vital that we also invest in the cultural capital of the country,” he added.
“Drawing upon the finest local musicians and international guest performers, the Friends of the American School of Doha Chamber Music Series will significantly enhance the country’s already strong reputation for cultural excellence. We are very grateful to IBQ for their support of this event.”
“We are delighted to announce our sponsorship of the Friends of the American School of Doha Chamber Music Series, which offers music lovers here in Qatar the unique opportunity to enjoy world-class musical performances,” said George Nasra, managing director, IBQ. – TradeArabia News Service
