Top baker to start operations at new Dubai facility

Dubai, January 5, 2010

Dofreeze, a leading industrial manufacturer of long shelf-life baked and packaged products in the Middle East, said the company was all set to start operations at its new Dh180-million facility in Dubai Industrial City.

Dofreeze's announcement comes after Dubai Industrial City, a member of Tecom Investments, gave the start-up certificate for the compaany's new first phase facility at the Food and Beverage zone.

Built on a plot of 500,000 sq ft and equipped with five fully automated production lines, the Dofreeze facility at Dubai Industrial City will make products such as Swiss roll, layer cakes, muffins, cupcakes, pound cakes and a whole range of frozen pastries and croissants.

The production facility is Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certified with all five lines now in operation.

The products manufactured on these lines are currently being exported to over 35 countries including the Middle East, Hong Kong, China, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, the US, Pakistan, India, Morocco, and Libya.

The start-up certificate follows the successful completion of the inspection process conducted by Maqayees, the governance arm of Dubai Industrial City.

The inspection process included a preliminary audit of the site in accordance with the Dubai Quality Mark protocol and verification of documentation to ensure compliance with the requirements of relevant government and federal bodies.

Rashid Al Ansari, vice-president of Dubai Industrial City, said: 'We congratulate Dofreeze on the commencement of operations at their facility within the township which feeds into our vision of creating an ideal environment for the manufacturing sector to prosper locally and regionally.'

“The state-of-the-art Dofreeze plant is a testament to the competitive advantage Dubai Industrial City offers as a one-stop destination, our 360-degree approach to meeting all the industrial sector needs and highlights our status as a township located outside a free zone but allowing companies to export their goods tariff-free across the GCC and the Arab world,” he added.

Aamer Fayyaz, CEO of Dofreeze, said: “Our selection of Dubai Industrial City as the location for our manufacturing facility followed a meticulous assessment process. The township’s strategic location, service excellence and supporting services and facilities provide the ideally competitive environment for our business to prosper.'

'We have also found in Dubai Industrial City a willing partner that facilitates our operations,' Fayyaz pointed out.

'The success of Dofreeze over the years has been due to a strong focus on snacking, which is the fastest growing area of food business. Our products have made remarkable inroads in several international markets under our brand ‘Eurocake’. Dofreeze also caters to high end and family packs market with its ‘Delice’ brand,' he added.

Dofreeze has also invested in frozen bakery for industry scale manufacturing and is producing world-class frozen products for the hospitality and bake-off sector.

We plan to move ahead with continuous innovation to provide convenience to today’s fast pace consumers with ‘Busy’ lifestyles,” Fayyaz noted.

Covering 560 million sq ft near the new Al Maktoum International Airport and the Jebel Ali Free Zone and Port, Dubai Industrial City offers dedicated facilities for the manufacturing sector, and hosts six zones including food and beverage, base metals, minerals, chemicals, transport and equipment, as well as machinery and mechanical equipment. -TradeArabia News Service
