Bahrain gears up for eGovernment forum

Manama, April 11, 2011

More than 800 delegates from across the globe will take part in 'Bahrain International eGovernment Forum & IT Expo 2011' to be held from May 16 to 18.

The expo, being held for the fourth time in a row, is jointly organized by the eGovernment Authority, the Bahrain Society of Engineers, PMI  Project Management Institute Bahrain Chapter, and the Bahrain Internet Society.

The event is being held under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT). The IT Expo 2011 will take place concurrently with the forum form May 17 to 18.

The eGA chief executive Mohammad Ali Al Qaed said, 'The official launch of the Forum will be on May 16 at Isa Cultural Centre whereas other activities such as workshops seminars and IT Expo will run at the Gulf Hotel Convention Center;1 from May 17 to 18.'

Moreover, during the official opening, the winners of the Arab eContent Award, Bahrain eContent Award and eGovernment Excellence Award for the year 2011 will be announced and the awards will be presented to the winners by Shaikh Mohammed.
 
'The forum is an annual event that brings together a cluster of senior executives in both private and government sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and specialized speakers from all spheres from the United Nations and other international organizations,' said Al Qaed.

According to him, this year’s forum will be rich in content with reputed speakers, selected from a mixture of government and private entities to share and highlight their experience and knowledge.

The forum will handle key issues like social media, transforming service delivery and citizen engagement through Government 2.0, open government initiatives, trends and technologies shaping the future of eGovernments, green eGovernment, millennium development goals, mobile and other delivery channels in eGovernment, measuring the success and value of eGovernment services and eGovernance best practices.

In order to enable various institutions and entities to participate in the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum & IT Expo  2011 and make it a successful event, a number of  sponsorship packages have been launched to support  the event including: (Premier, Diamond, Platinum and Gold).

The current Diamond sponsors are: Microsoft, GBM-IBM, Shura Council and Bahrain Telecommunication Company (Batelco), in addition the strategic partner to the Forum & Expo is Tamkeen.-TradeArabia News Service
