LG implements large LED lighting project

Manama, June 20, 2011

LG Electronics has implemented one of the world’s biggest installations of LED lighting technology in its Twin Towers headquarters in Seoul.

LG’s headquarters buildings have been outfitted with energy and cost-saving LG LED lights and a dedicated lighting control system.

LG has estimated that in a year the lighting systems on both buildings will save a total of 1,717 MWh of electricity, for a 53 per cent saving over equivalent buildings using conventional fluorescent lighting technology.

Commenting on LG’s achievement, H S Paik, president of LG Electronics Gulf FZE, said: “This accomplishment shows that LED lighting can deliver cost and energy savings in commercial scales, while being more eco-friendly at the same time. This feat was only possible because of breakthroughs in LED technology that LG has pioneered.”

LG has estimated that its lighting solutions provide energy savings ranging from 20-80 per cent, and can last five to ten times longer. This performance can be enhanced using LG’s digital controls, which can dim LED lighting according to ambient brightness and activate it via motion sensors, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
