Top glass artist’s factory opens in RAK

Ras Al Khaimah, December 7, 2011

The manufacturing facility of world-renowned glass artist Jean Claude Novaro was opened in Ras Al Khaimah yesterday (December 6) by HH Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

Sheikh Saud toured the new factory and unveiled a special painting to commemorate the event.

Novaro has also signed an agreement to design an exclusive range of tiles for RAK Ceramics, leading ceramic tiles and bathware manufacturing company, a Wam report said.

Recognised as one of the greatest glass blowers of his generation, Novaro maintains a portfolio of top-tier clients that include Prince Albert II of Monaco, Sheikh Tariq Al Qassimi, Robert De Niro, Bill Cosby, Mike Tyson and Phillippe Monet.

He has also earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest hand blown coupe ever made.

Novaro's unique and distinctive art-glass creations are highly valued and sought after by art connoisseurs all over the world. Many of the Frenchman's creations are now being displayed in museums, galleries and private collections around the world.

He has also participated in over 125 individual and collective shows in different countries including France, Germany, Belgium, Japan, Switzerland, Italy, Holland, Saudi Arabia and US.

Sheikh Abdul Malik bin Kayed Al Qasimi, advisor to RAK head, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamed Al Qasimi; Abdullah Mohammed Al Othman, Qatari Ambassador to the UAE; and heads of local departments were present at the opening. – TradeArabia News Service
