His Majesty King Hamad

Bahrain King calls for unity on National Day

Manama, December 17, 2012

An optimistic National Day message of unity and hope went out yesterday from Bahrain's His Majesty King Hamad as he called on everyone to move forward diligently for the sake of their nation.

His Majesty spoke alongside HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, at a ceremony marking both National Day celebrations and the 13th anniversary of Accession, at Bahrain University, said a report in our sister publication, the Gulf Daily News.

"We celebrate today the glorious National Day of the beloved kingdom of Bahrain - 41 years have now passed since we obtained our full membership to the United Nations - as well as the 13th anniversary of our accession to the throne," said His Majesty.

"We recall on these auspicious occasions the majestic legacy of our fathers and grandfathers. They built a safe and peaceful country based on love, tolerance and moderation, and Bahrain will remain a country of law and institutions and freedoms and tolerance among various religions and cultures.

"Our glorious National Day is a celebration of all the political, constitutional and economic revitalisations and development in our country from the date Bahrain was founded as an independent state in the era of our grandfather Ahmed Al Fateh in 1783, more than two centuries ago, as a Muslim and Arab state, up to our present time.

"As usual, we chose this glorious day to honour the loyal citizens who devoted their lives to education. We have attended this ceremony to honour them at this university, where Bahrain achieved an outstanding status thanks to its leadership in education and has made great strides in the basic education for all and in providing the best educational services for all members of society.

"We thank and appreciate the great spirit of patriotism that distinguishes those who volunteered in this honourable profession. Their role in volunteer patriotic education will always be recognised and their stance has been recorded in the honours of the noble teaching profession. We also honour today the other citizens who have been loyal and devoted to their homeland."

After the speech, His Majesty presented awards. – TradeArabia News Service
