Top Bahraini officials to address Davos WEF

Manama, January 23, 2013

A senior Bahraini delegation will address key issues at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2013, which is beginning today in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland.

The delegation includes Kamal bin Ahmed, Minister of Transportation and acting chief executive, Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), and Mahmood Al-Kooheji, CEO, Mumtalakat.

The global summit runs January 27 and has as its theme this year ‘Resilient Dynamism.’

According to Kamal bin Ahmed, it is vitally important that governments continue to create the right environment for firms in the private sector to thrive.

“As the global economy continues to recover from the financial crisis, relations between governments and the private sector will be vital in ensuring jobs and long term economic growth that benefits all. Forums like the WEF meetings help to create the necessary dialogue that enables businesses and governments to work together,” he said.

“For us in Bahrain, policies that create the right environment for businesses to thrive are at the heart of our economic development – whether that is through regulation, investment in education and training or high-quality infrastructure and links to the rest of the Gulf and wider region.”

Kamal bin Ahmed participates today (January 23) in a session titled “The Arab World Context”, discussing the most pressing issues shaping the context for decision-makers in the Arab world and the implications they have at the national, regional and international levels.

He is speaking on the panel alongside several other prominent figures from the region, including Prince Turki Al Faisal Al Saud and Ibrahim S Dabdoub, Group chief executive officer, National Bank of Kuwait. – TradeArabia News Service
