Bahrain moves to protect historic landmarks
Manama, June 29, 2013
Bahrain is studying a proposal to set up a special archaeology zone to protect three historic landmarks, said a report.
The move comes after the Northern Municipal Council's archaeology committee members met Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa to brief her about the state of some historic landmarks, which they described as "embarrassing," reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.
The councillors hope the plan will also help revive the Adhari Spring, Mubarakeya Library and Abu Zaydan Spring in Khamis, the report added.
