Bahrain warns 'terror may spill over to region'

Manama, January 7, 2014

Bahrain is a gateway through which terror may spill over to the whole region, the Premier warned yesterday.

He said Bahrain is now confronting systematic and organised terror targeting its security and stability in a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

He urged a clear and unequivocal stance condemning terror, adding that silence would be seen as condoning it.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa spoke out as he received a number of intellectuals, media and business figures, in addition to citizens.

He urged all Arabs to stand united and be on alert to foil the conspiracies, warning against lethal repercussions of foreign plots on the Arab world.

"Enough of disunity, discords, divisions and internecine disagreements," he said, describing unity as the need of the hour.

He told the audience that the GCC Union will pave the way to full-fledged Arab unity.

He deplored that "some hands belonging to this country" sold their souls and turned into agents of foreign designs and agendas.

"These tools of evil showed no gratitude, although they owe so much to this country," he said, adding that their number is shrinking thanks to the government's vigilance and popular outrage and rejection.

"It is deplorable that some call for foreign interference in Bahrain's internal affairs although all doors are wide open for them," he added.

The audience hailed the government, led by the Premier, for providing services and subsidies. They also commended the Premier's decision to reconsider increase in diesel prices. - TradeArabia News Service
