Bahrain eGovt extends awards deadline

Manama, February 24, 2014

The registration deadline for Bahrain’s eGovernment Excellence Award 2014 has been extended to March 4 to ensure that nomination doors are open for more projects, in particular with the creation of three new categories this year.

The esteemed event is held under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for ICT.

In response to the participants, the deadline for submissions that was due to be held on February 28, extended in bid to allow an opportunity for the maximum number of applications, in particular that there is a surge in the number of nominated projects as part of several categories of the seventh eGovernment Excellence Award.

The number of submissions received reached up to 125 entries with a significant rate increase to the range of 17 per cent compared to last year.

The organising committee has called upon again all interested participants to register their e-projects and participate in the Award, mainly at the three new categories to be created this year, such as Best App for Smart Devices (multi-sector).

This award is granted for the benefit of public or private sector organisations which provide high-tech applications for smart devises in order to ensure that level of service delivery can be optimized with a core focus on cost effectiveness for less time and effort needed to carry out an operation or a full range of operations by sharing information and carrying out transactions.

eEntrepreneur Award (multi sector) is granted for entrepreneurs as founders of small ITC focused businesses, together with an innovative approach to play a part in business development and growth on an international scale.

eParticipation Award has been added to the Government Sector, and this award is intended to target the executing government bodies that make best use of social media and seek to ensure continuous communication with the public with a view to improving levels of service delivery and decision-making.

The winning projects will be announced during the official opening of Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2014 where the winners will be honoured.

This year's eGovernment Excellence Award targets the public and private sectors, NGOs as well as individuals.

The Government Sector includes four categories - Best eService, Best eProject, eParticipation, and eContent. The Multi Sector includes four categories Best App for Smart Devices, eEntrepreneur, eEconomy, and eNGOs. The Individuals' category includes two eCitizen and Best eConcept.

The eCitizen selection will be made, based more on effective participation and the number of the higher value of transactions conducted on the eGovernment portal during one year. – TradeArabia News Service
