Financial crime prevention in focus

Muscat, February 26, 2014

International law firm Trowers & Hamlins are set to host a seminar about the Middle East’s biggest financial collapse caused by financial crime on March 3 in Muscat.

The breakfast seminar, which will be held at the Grand Hyatt, will discuss tackling corruption, white collar crime and ways to combat financial fraud.

It will specifically examine a case study of The International Banking Corporation (TIBC), which has been one of the financial institutions at the centre of the biggest financial collapse in the Middle East.

Partners Abdullah Mutawi and Lucas Pitts will lead the seminar, said a statement.

Abdullah Mutawi is a cross-border M&A and corporate finance lawyer and advises on high profile insolvency, administration, corporate distress and re-structuring matters.

Lucas Pitts is regional head of commercial dispute resolution for Trowers & Hamlins and, together with Abdullah, leads the litigation arising out of the administration of TIBC, which has involved advising on claims before the courts in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and New York, including a professional negligence claim against the former auditors for approximately $3 billion. - TradeArabia News Service
