HRH the Premier

Bahrain PM condemns exploitation of children

Manama, March 7, 2014

Bahrain’s HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday (March 6) hit out at the kingdom's so-called opposition for exploiting children by grooming them as terrorists.

He added his remarks to growing condemnation of the way two small boys, aged 10 and 11, were injured after being forced to carry a home-made explosive which blew up in Daih, said a report in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

The Premier expressed deep regret at the exploitation of children and "trafficking in them" in a detestable way by involving them in terrorist acts.

This is a major violation of human rights and a criminal phenomenon that the government is committed to combat and eradicate by all means.

The Premier also issued instructions to fast-track court procedures to apply the law on perpetrators following police success in arresting the main suspects involved in the Daih terror blast in record time, and the defendants' confessions regarding the masterminds and those implicated in manufacturing the explosives used in the incident.

He said that the speedy arrest of the perpetrators should be matched by similar prosecution procedures so as to ensure that justice is done and the blood of the martyrs and their patriotic sacrifices are not in vain.

The Premier yesterday chaired a security meeting devoted to latest developments in the Daih incident.

The Minister of State for Interior Affairs submitted reports on continuous efforts of security bodies to determine terrorist groups and gangs and co-ordinate with other countries on them, especially following the recent confirmation of the perpetrators' link with other parties in neighbouring countries. – TradeArabia News Service
