Dubai RTA briefs S Korea team on rail ops

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently briefed a visiting South Korean delegation, representing Seoul Metro Company, about its experience in rail operation and the best relevant practices in the field.

Mohammed Al Mudharreb, director of Rail Operation at RTA’s Rail Agency, said: “The delegation visited the Operations Control Center at Rashidiya Depot, where it was briefed on employees’ tasks as regards coping with emergency cases such as responding to early warning devices, and attending to issues related to security, communication, malfunctions, metro operation & stopping control systems, as well as monitoring the electricity network & feeding systems.”


He pointed out that the delegation was also briefed on how to monitor the movement of trains, the safe operation, how to provide alternatives in case of any emergency, and the 2,000 digital cameras deployed in metro lines and operated in cooperation with the Transport and Security Department of Dubai Police through the closed-circuit television (CCTV), which is monitored by a dedicated security officer.

“The delegation was also acquainted with the work mechanism of the Maintenance Department in terms of two types of workshops: The first is designed to address light and simple breakdowns and simple as well as routine & regular maintenance, while the second is designed to cater to long-term repairs,” said Al Mudharreb.

“The delegation heeded to a detailed briefing about the sophisticated equipment used in the maintenance, and the daily & monthly cleaning operations of metro carriages. The delegation was also familiarized with the metro performance outcomes in terms of the number of trips, ridership, users’ time and effort saved. The delegation lauded the world-class regulations adopted in monitoring, operation and maintenance of trains,” added Al Mudharreb. – TradeArabia News Service
