$3.6m cocaine seized at Bahrain airport

Manama, April 22, 2014

A woman was arrested at Bahrain International Airport yesterday in possession of 3.5kg of cocaine worth BD1.4 million ($3.65 million).

The Asian passenger was also carrying processed meat. When the Customs officer asked her about her luggage, she seemed confused and uncomfortable, so the luggage was X-rayed and the drugs were found.

She provided officials with important information about the source of the drugs and the Asians in Bahrain who were waiting to receive them.

The anti-narcotics directorate was notified and succeeded in arresting the Asians, who will be referred to the Public Prosecution, reported our sister publication Akhbar Al Khaleej. – TradeArabia News Service
