Eleven foreigners died in a massive fire at a furniture workshop in Riyadh’s Badr district, a report quoting the Civil Defense has said.

The 600 sq ft workshop was entirely gutted in the fire that occurred on Monday night, said the Arab News report.

The Civil Defense sent 14 firefighting units, 15 support units and eight rescue teams to the site, a spokesman said in the report.

Witnesses said most victims died of smoke inhalation as could not get out of the place.
