308 drug-related cases reported in Bahrain

Bahrain's Interior Ministry has reported 308 drug-related cases over the first four months of the year.
 
According to figures released by the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, 375 people have been involved in these cases which range from drug-use to dealing, reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
 
Anti-drug squads have seized 110kg of hashish, 30gm of heroin, 959gm of marijuana, 425gm of methamphetamines, and 3.5kg of cocaine.
 
International Co-operation Division chief Lieutenant Captain Abdulrahman Shuwaiter revealed the new figures to mark International Anti-Drug Day.
 
A radio programme also hosted senior fellow at the UAE National Rehab Centre Dr Anas Mahmoud Fekri and UN Office on Drugs and Crime regional chief Dr Hatem Fuad Ali.
 
Under the penal law in Bahrain, drug dealers may be sentenced from 10 years to life imprisonment and even capital punishment. - TradeArabia News Service
