Bahrain wastes 400 tonnes of food per day

Bahrain is expected to generate more than 400 tonnes of food waste per day during Ramadan, according to a report by Supreme Council for Environment's waste disposal unit.
 
The GCC countries stand out as among the world's top food wasters, with 150 million tonnes of food waste per year, according to a report from the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi, UAE, said the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
 
Bahrain, Qatar and Oman import more than 90 per cent of their food needs and satisfy their water needs with desalinated water, said the report. - TradeArabia News Service
