BAE awards contract to train Oman military pilots

NEW YORK, September 16, 2014

BAE Systems has awarded US-based L-3 Communications a contract to develop a training programme for pilots of Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) to operate BAE’s advanced jet trainer aircraft.

L-3 Communications’ Link Simulation & Training (L-3 Link) business will develop the Hawk Oman Training System (HOTS), which will prepare RAFO pilots to operate the Hawk MK166 Advanced Jet Trainer.

The training system is scheduled to be ready during the first quarter of 2017.

“L-3 is very pleased that our growing relationship with BAE Systems has enabled us to add another world-class aircraft to the portfolio of platforms we support with advanced training solutions,” said Lenny Genna, president of L-3 Link.

“We look forward to developing and delivering training equipment that will enable Royal Air Force of Oman pilots to sharpen their basic fighter jet skills.”

L-3 Link is a world leader in providing intelligent total training solutions for operators and maintainers across a wide range of military, civil and commercial platforms.
