Social worker drives 35,000 miles for peace

MUSCAT, September 29, 2014

Shakil 'Star' Malik, musician turned social worker and peace and friendship envoy for Pakistan and India, drove into Oman recently on his Honda CR-V on a ‘Peace Driveathon’.

Malik has driven through 13 countries in Europe and six countries in the GCC in his trusty 2.4 lt Honda SUV which he calls his 'Peacemobile'.

As his 19th country, Star Malik stopped in the sultanate and Oman Marketing and Services Company (Omasco) gave his CR-V a full service to ensure he enjoyed the journey to its optimum.

Malik said: “My trusty CR-V and I have covered around 35,000 miles together and it's been a pleasure travelling in such a safe and comfortable vehicle. As we enter the final phase of our journey together it is a real gift to receive a full and intricate service from the Honda team here in Oman. I am a huge Honda fan and the CR-V model has been the perfect companion on my trip.”

An Omasco spokesperson said: “We are happy that Star Malik chose a Honda CR-V for his journey in promoting peace. This man has devoted so much of his time to this worthy cause, he is a true hero.”

Malik's final leg of the journey will take him to India where he plans on auctioning off his CR-V with all proceeds going towards setting up the 'Star Malik Peace Centre'. His aim is to continue to promote better India-Pakistan ties and serve humanitarian needs. – TradeArabia News Service
