120 Bahraini horses on show at national contest

MANAMA, January 22, 2015

A total of 120 local horses will be showcased in a national competition that will be held over the weekend in Bahrain.

The Second Bahrain Local Arabian Horse Show is organised by the Bahrain Horse Society and will be held tomorrow  (January 23) and on January 25 at the Sahara Stud Centre in Saar, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Speaking at a Press conference held at A'ali Arabian Stud in A'ali yesterday, society events co-ordinator Hesham Al Haddad said that local horses taking part in the event were trained by best professionals from across the world.

“The competition is only for local studs as we are hoping to get European Conference of Arab Horse Organisations' (ECAHO) recognition with our winners qualifying for international events,” he said.

ECAHO recognition is a key milestone for local horses to qualify for international shows and competitions.

“A representative from ECAHO will be present on both days and all of our judges are accredited to the European body.”

He further added that the event would serve unlimited entertainment for equestrian fans from 9.30am until midnight.

Echoing a similar view, society board and organising committee member Waheed Al A'ali said shows were held in Bahrain earlier on a lower scale amongst a few horses.

“Things are now getting bigger than what they were in the past. We are keen on achieving the European recognition through this competition, which would be a significant milestone,” he said.

Organising committee co-ordinator Khaled Mubarak said the show was being advertised on social media and an exclusive website readied.
“We're planning to organise the competition every year and if we are to go bigger, then we need more exposure,” he said.

“Our website www.bahrainahc.com will broadcast the show live, while our instagram account Bahrainahc will have short videos of the happenings. The event will be professional and entertaining,” Mubarak added.
