Bahrain plans website to co-ordinate prison visits

Authorities in Bahrain are preparing to launch a website to co-ordinate prison visits with families of inmates, a report said.

Reformation and rehabilitation director Colonel Nasser Bakheet told Al Amn radio programme that the directorate is also co-ordinating with a bank for inmates' families to deposit money, according to the report in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

He said reformation and rehabilitation centre includes sports fields and carpentry, painting and sculpture workshops.

Several parties supervise the directorate's work, including the Ombudsman General Secretariat, Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission, National Institution for Human Rights, International Committee of the Red Cross and the Public Prosecution judge in charge of sentence execution and Interior Ministry's legal affairs directorate, he said.- TradeArabia News Service
