Infected cheese off market shelves in Bahrain store

MANAMA, May 13, 2015

A hypermarket in Bahrain has withdrawn Perail cheese from its shelves after it was found to contain bacteria listeria monocytogenes, which causes infection listeriosis.

Carrefour has recalled the French product and halted its distribution following a warning from the manufacturing company, said head of consumer product safety and licensing group at the food control section Faisal Al Sari.

It also recovered the only two packets sold to an expatriate customer, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

All precautionary measures have been taken, said Al Sari, urging people to report any complaint concerning food safety. - TradeArabia News Service
