Bahrain centre trains archaeologists

Around 40 Iraqi and Syrian archaeologists have been trained by experts in Bahrain to document the destruction of historical sites by Islamic State (IS) militants. The Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage has been preparing teams of specialists in conflict countries as part of efforts to safeguard cultural sites as extremist militants take control of large swathes of northern and western Iraq and parts of Syria, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
