Bahrain MPs to back new terror law

MANAMA, November 28, 2015

The MPs are set to vote this week on a new tough anti-terror law in Bahrain.

The vote will take place during Tuesday’s session on amendments brought by a law decree that toughen punishments to protect society from terrorism, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

Citizens who take part, in any form, in overseas collective acts of violence or combat operations which do not target Bahrain will also be handed a five-year jail term.

The new law authorises judicial officers to arrest suspects and keep them in custody for up to 28 days.
