Bahrain PM congratulates Modi on big election win

MANAMA, May 24, 2019

HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa sent sent a cable of congratulations to Indian Premier Narendra Modi over his party Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) tremendous victory in the recent national elections, reported BNA.

Official data from the Election Commission showed BJP won 302 seats on its own and along with its allies the total surged to 353 out of the 542 seats, up from the 282 it had won in 2014. This has given the party the first back-to-back majority for a single party since 1984.

Lauding the win, HRH the Premier paid tribute to the Indian Government and people, hailing strong bilateral relations and steadily-growing cooperation in all fields, stated the BNA report.

He wished the Indian Premier, as well as his friendly country and people, further development, progress and prosperity, it added.

Meanwhile, the UAE leaders too have sent a cable to PM Modi, congratulating him on the victory.

President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Friday dispatched greetings to Modi. HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces sent similar greetings.
