GREECE, September 20, 2019

Olympic medalists and world champions are among those who will be present to offer advice and coaching when Costa Navarino, the multi-sport destination in the Peloponnese region of Greece, hosts the seventh annual Navarino Challenge, from October 10-13.

The event, which is open to all ages, features more than 30 different sporting activities, including boxing; cross-fit; karate, featuring world champion Eleni Chatziliadou; taekwondo, with two-time Olympic silver medalist Alexandros Nikolaidis; kick-boxing; tennis, with the support of the Navarino Racquet Academy and much more.

The event will also honour Greek basketball legend and Olympic torchbearer Nick Galis and the event's main ambassador, the Greek-American ultra-marathoner Dean Karnazes, who will participate in the half-marathon and run alongside children on the 1km route.

Other sports to be featured include swimming, kayaking, sailing, basketball, cycling, beach volleyball and a wealth of keep-fit and wellness activities, with the full programme of events available to view on the Costa Navarino website.

Open to all ages, the multi-awarded sports tourism event promotes the concept of ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body' and the spirit of ‘fair play'. This is achieved with the assistance of role-model athletes, focusing on the respect for equality and diversity through sports, and the education of youth through sports, without any kind of discrimination, in a spirit of friendship and brotherhood.

The Navarino Challenge is additionally aiming to raise awareness of the benefits of physical exercise and balanced nutrition through a Mediterranean diet, while also educating participants on the fight against childhood obesity.

Costa Navarino is the prime, sustainable destination in the Mediterranean, located in the Greek region of Messinia in the southwest Peloponnese. One of the most unspoiled and breathtaking seaside Mediterranean landscapes, the area has been shaped by 4,500 years of history.

Its philosophy is driven by a genuine desire to promote Messinia, while protecting and preserving its natural beauty and heritage. It comprises a number of distinct sites, featuring five-star deluxe hotels, luxury residences, conference facilities, spa and thalassotherapy centres, signature golf courses, and a wide range of unique year-round activities for adults and children. - TradeArabia News Service
