GM invites public for Centennial

Dubai, September 9, 2008

General Motors said it is inviting the general public to participate in its 100th anniversary event on September 16 by logging on to GMnext.com.

GMnext Day, which marks the beginning of General Motors' second century, is built around a series of forward-looking activities designed to engage the general public around the world.

In the Middle East, for instance, General Motors dealers are offering special offers on the company's line-up of vehicles.

Other activities taking place on the day include:

Live global broadcast from GM Global headquarters in Detroit, USA, at 16.30 Dubai time (15.30 KSA time).

During this historic broadcast, GM will highlight technologies, global products, GM leaders and future leaders from around the world, along with other important 'news' announcements.

The broadcast will also show highlights of GM’s operations in the Middle East.

The broadcast can be watched live on Nilesat by tuning into frequency 10, 892 Horizontal (symbol rate: 27.500, FEC:3/4 and service name: feed).

It will also be recorded and ready for viewing on GMnext.com the following day.

The global broadcast will be followed by live chats (18.30-21.30 Dubai time/17.30-20.30 KSA time) with three GM senior executives - Bob Lutz, vice chairman - Global Product Development; Jon Lauckner, vice president - Global Programme Management; and Tim Greig, GM Interior Designer.

The trio will be chatting with the world in the GMnext.com chat room, speaking candidly about upcoming new products and what’s next for GM.

And finally, the Middle East public can also log on to a unique roundtable discussion - "The Future of Transportation: The Next 100 Years" – in which industry experts will come together for a candid discussion on what's next for personal transportation.

Topics will range from alternative fuels and advanced propulsion systems to government regulation and infrastructure.

The discussion will stream live on GMnext.com (21.30-22.30 Dubai time/20.30-21.30 KSA time) with visitors having the opportunity to ask questions in real time.

Terry Johnsson, president – General Motors, Middle East Operations, said: "For the last one hundred years, General Motors has been making great cars that cater to all tastes and needs.

"GM is also an integral part of the Middle East – as partners with our dealers and our host nations for the past 80 years.

"On 16 September, the Middle East public will be able to take a journey with GM to learn what’s next for the company and the automotive industry as a whole and share their thoughts and ideas about issues of today and the future." - TradeArabia News Service
