Renault to launch four new models in GCC

Dubai, May 12, 2010

Renault GCC will extend its existing line-up with the introduction of four new models across the region by the end of this year.

The launches are in line with the French manufacturer’s plans to expand its market share within the small and mid-size passenger car segments, said a statement.

Following the launch of the economical, sturdy and spacious 2010 Renault Logan last month, the compact Renault Sandero, an entry level vehicle, will make its regional appearance in June. This will be followed by the launch of the Renault Fluence in August, the new Megane hatchback in September and the popular Renault Safrane will arrive in November with a new and improved look, it said.

Commenting on Renault’s aggressive strategy for the region, the company’s managing director, Mustansir Lakdawala said: “In spite of the region’s automotive sector being hit hard due the financial crisis, the industry is showing signs of steady recovery and I am optimistic about regional auto sales gaining momentum in the months to come.”

Renault Sandero and the new Megane hatchback offer great value for money and great features targeting discerning younger audiences, he said. “The Sandero is an eye-catching 5-door hatchback that exudes modern design, dynamic performance and robust reliability. The new Megane hatch has been honed to appeal to car enthusiasts and takes its inspiration from a passion for great cars and the high performance world of motor sport, delivering a robust yet sporty drive,” Lakdawala said.

Boasting a unique fluid design the Renault Fluence that made its regional debut at the Dubai Motor Show last year, will be the largest vehicle in terms of size within its segment. A major milestone for the company, the Fluence is manufactured in Korea and has been developed especially for GCC customers.

Lakdawala added: “We are expecting the launch of the Fluence to be a huge catalyst for growth over the next 12 months. Like the success of the GCC specific Safrane, we are certain that the Fluence will be extremely popular living up to its tagline ‘Drive Upgraded’.”

Also due to arrive later this year is a new and improved version of the 2010/2011 Renault Safrane. The popular family sedan car will boast a new design and interior trims to ensure the car stands out in a crowd, he added. – TradeArabia News Service
