Lexus sees GCC sales up 57pc

Lexus has reported 57 per cent growth in Gulf region sales for the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year.
Toyota's luxury division said it sold 9,398 units during the period, attributing the spurt to "Lexus' refined design and brand philosophy" which enabled it to consolidate its position in the luxury segment, reported the Gulf daily News, our sister publication.
"The Lexus brand has been pushing the boundaries and setting new benchmarks in customer experience with every new vehicle," Toyota Motor Corporation Middle East and North Africa representative office chief Nobuyuki Negishi said.
"The first quarter has been phenomenal, and the tremendous growth in our sales is a true reflection of the strong and rapidly growing appeal that the brand has among customers.
"Our customers appreciate new design philosophy and value the high standards that Lexus is known for in terms of refinement, comfort, driving performance, technical excellence and above all, quality.
"Our sport utility vehicle (SUV) product range did exceptionally well in the quarter, highlighting customer demand for premium offroad vehicles," he said.
The Lexus LX saw sales of 4,152 units, 37 per cent higher than the corresponding quarter last year, whereas 1,116 units of the RX range were sold, 51 per cent higher than last year.
In the sedan category, the new Lexus LS made its mark on luxury car buyers in the region, recording a 180 per cent jump in sales with 645 units.
The Lexus GS registered 100 per cent growth in sales with 545 units sold during the period, while the Lexus ES saw its sales increase by 121 per cent with 2,434 units being sold.
During the quarter, Lexus introduced the 2013 LS, billed as "a sophisticated sedan with a bold blend of refinement and evolution".
The brand also launched the 2013 LX SUV offering "the ultimate off-roader in its class with a unique combination of luxurious interior features, legendary all-terrain capability and new-age styling."-TradeArabia News Service
