Lexus posts 20 per cent growth in Middle East

Lexus today announced a robust growth in the Middle East (GCC, Yemen, Lebanon and Jordan), with 21,598 units sold across the region during the first six months of 2014 – marking an increase of 20 per cent over the corresponding period last year.

With a strong emphasis on innovation, design and a refreshed model line-up that enhances the brand’s appeal to younger and more adventurous buyers, Lexus has been making significant inroads into the region’s fiercely competitive luxury car market.

Takayuki Yoshitsugu, chief representative of Mena representative office, Toyota Motor Corporation, said: “Lexus is constantly pushing the boundaries of automotive technology and design to develop vehicles that exhibit a seamless blend of luxury and performance. This has been a key driving force behind our sustained growth throughout the region. Our focus is on providing our customers with an ownership experience that is emotionally engaging and deeply satisfying to their senses, and it gives us great satisfaction to see that our new design direction has met with overwhelming customer acceptance all across the Middle East.”

 Leading the charge for the sedan range, the Lexus IS has become the luxury sedan of choice for customers across the Middle East with sales of 1,873 units during the first half of 2014 - a whopping 478 per cent increase over the same period last year, said the statement.

The Lexus GX SUV model posted sales of 1,332 units for a 364 per cent growth during the first six months of 2014.

Lexus continued to make inroads into the SUV market, with its LX model range proving to be one of the top-selling luxury utility vehicles. The premium SUV saw a 12 per cent increase in sales with 9,178 units which includes the Supercharged LX 570 which Lexus rolled out exclusively to mark its 25th anniversary milestone. – TradeArabia News Service
