Crackdown call on illegal Saudi taxis

MANAMA, October 24, 2015

Illegal taxi drivers from Saudi Arabia are allegedly elbowing in on the Bahrain market, which is already facing increased competition following the introduction of the Uber service this year.

The Public Transport Drivers Society is now calling for a crackdown on illegal operators, who are accused of stealing business from legitimate cabbies, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication..

It follows protests from licensed Bahraini taxi drivers against Uber, which aallows customers  to book cabs through a mobile phone app.
