Al Khaldi Transport buys 539 Mercedes-Benz trucks

RIYADH, March 29, 2017

Daimler Commercial Vehicles Mena FZE and Juffali Industrial Products Company (Jipco), the authorised general distributor of Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles in Saudi Arabia, have concluded a major deal of 539 Mercedes-Benz trucks with the customer Al Khaldi Transport from Dammam.

The contract was signed in the presence of Stefan Buchner, head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks; Till Oberwoerder, head of marketing, sales and services Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Roland Schneider, president and CEO Daimler commercial vehicles Middle East and North Africa (Mena) in Dubai, UAE, on March 23, said a statement from the company.

Stefan Buchner, head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, present at the contract signing, said: “It is our clear ambition to build trucks fulfilling highest standards and requirements delivering quality and excellence to our customers.”

“The latest major order of 539 Mercedes-Benz trucks by our standing customer Al Khaldi Transport further proves that we succeed in our ambition,” he said.

“This fleet deal is also the result of our new regional centre in Dubai, which makes us even more effective in Mena – not only in sales, but also in customer services,” he added.

The deal for a total of 539 new trucks includes the full range of Mercedes-Benz medium- and heavy-duty trucks sold in the Mena region: Accelo, Atego, Actros 4x2 tractor-heads equipped with Mercedes PowerShift automated transmission, Actros 6x4 and 6x6 tractor-heads and Actros 6x4 and all-wheel drive chassis, it said.

All trucks ordered by Al Khaldi come with a tailor-made after sales package, including driver training, technical training and 24/7 roadside assistance, it added.

Sheikh Hamoud Al Khaldi, chairman of Al Khaldi: “We have decided to further expand our truck fleet and with the latest order we will increase our total fleet of Mercedes-Benz Trucks to more than 1,000 units.”

Roland Schneider, president and CEO of Daimler Commercial Vehicles, said: “The order of 539 Mercedes-Benz Trucks including after-sales package impressively underlines the competitiveness and leadership of Mercedes-Benz Trucks in Saudi Arabia.”

Saudi Arabia is a core market in the Mena region for Mercedes-Benz trucks, with more than 43,500 Mercedes-Benz trucks delivered since 2002, the year of the foundation of Jipco. With a fleet of more than 1,000 Mercedes-Benz trucks, Al-Khaldi is one of the key customers of Jipco.

Kobus van Zyl, CEO of Jipco, said: “This order has been the result of our customer centric approach where we are aiming to not only understand our customer’s operational risk and challenges, but also agree on solutions to ensure the highest uptime and lowest cost of operations.”

“This was and will be an incredible team effort for the total term of the contract and beyond,” he concluded.

All trucks ordered by Al Khaldi will be delivered by Jipco in Q2 and Q3 of this year, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
