UAE cuts traffic, impoundment fines by 50pc

ABU DHABI, December 2, 2017

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has directed the Ministry of Interior to co-ordinate with all traffic and licensing departments across the country to reduce by 50 per cent all traffic and impoundment fines nationwide in the spirit of the UAE National Day.

The slashing of the fines are only for those incurred from December 2, 2017 and backwards, with the discounted fines to be paid within three months starting from the date of issuing the directives, after which the full value of the fines shall be charged, reported state news agency Wam.

As per the directives, motorists are strongly advised to comply with traffic rules and regulations and ensure safety of life and property, it added.
