Dubai RTA completes construction of new bus depot at Al Quoz

DUBAI, June 20, 2020

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said work has been fully completed on its Al Quoz Bus Depot.
 
It complements other bus depots at Jebel Ali, Al-Khawaneej, Al Ruwayyah , Al Aweer and Al Qusais, serves buses operating on 24 routes all over Dubai, said a statement from RTA.
 
The new bus station boasts several key facilities including residential quarters comprising 102 rooms that can accommodate 368 drivers besides a food court for 120 individuals, a clinic, 18-bay workshop, rest area, plaza and gym.
 
The depot also has a parking area for 273 buses in addition to offices for employees and technical staff, it stated.
 
Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, said: "The construction of this depot complements RTA’s efforts to upgrade the infrastructure of mass transport to encourage people to use public transit means in their daily movement."
 
He was speaking after inspecting the operational readiness of the depot where employees, engineers, technicians and drivers were deployed in various capacities.  
 
"This new facility will also boost the integration of multi-modal transport, reduce the operational cost of buses, and meet the needs of Expo 2020 bus service, which will accordingly ease the mobility of visitors and organisers," added Al Tayer.-TradeArabia News Service
