Singapore, November 9, 2009

Oil prices rose $1 to $78.43 a barrel on Monday, as Hurricane Ida roared through the Gulf of Mexico, where important oil fields are located, and on the back of the falling US dollar.

By 0426 GMT, US crude futures for December were up 98 cents to $78.41 a barrel after earlier surging by $1.00.
London Brent crude rose 90 cents to $76.77 a barrel. - Reuters
