Bahrain receives key LNG bids

Manama, April 16, 2011

The Bahrain National Oil and Gas Authority (Noga) said it has received bids from nine international companies to import 400 million to 800m cubic feet of liquefied natural gas per day.

Noga will evaluate the bids and the winning company will be announced later this year, Energy Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza told our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.

The participation of major international companies in the tender reflects the strong trust in the kingdom despite the recent incidents, Dr Mirza said.

A special berth will be built near Khalifa Bin Salman Port to accommodate gas tankers, he said, adding that Bahrain’s daily gas consumption is 1.3 billion cubic feet.-TradeArabia News Service
