Bahrain inks $9m power consultancy deal

Manama, July 3, 2011

Bahrain Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) has signed a BD3.4 million ($9 million) contract with British consultancy firm Mott MacDonald for the Kingdom's 400 kv transmission development project due to be completed in 2013.

Under the contract, Mott MacDonald will provide full consultancy services including investigations, designs, construction supervision and overall project management, said Ewa chief executive Dr Abdulmajid Al Awadhi after signing the contract.

The objective of the project is to eradicate excessive short-circuit currents in the existing electricity transmission networks and enable the transfer of bulk power more efficiently and economically from production stations to load centres throughout Bahrain.-TradeArabia News Service
