Officials at the presentation

Bahrain LNG terminal study to be completed soon

Manama, November 10, 2013

The pre-front end engineering design (Pre-Feed) study of Bahrain’s planned LNG Terminal Project is expected to be completed by the end of this month.

This was revealed at a presentation on the project arranged by the National Oil & Gas Authority (Noga) and the Oil and Gas Holding Company (nogaholding) recently at the Capital Club – Bahrain Financial Harbor.

More than 50 senior representatives from key stakeholders attended the presentation.

The presentation provided an update on the siting of the facilities and the way forward to pursue this strategic project, said a statement.

Noga has taken a strategic decision with regard to its long-term energy strategy and intends to import LNG to supplement domestic production and ensure that gas demand in the kingdom is met. Nogaholding – the investment and development arm of Noga – has been given a mandate to proceed with the development and formation of Bahrain LNG Terminal Project.

In order to develop, build and operate the project, nogaholding has commenced the first phase of the project which is the Pre-Front End Engineering Design (Pre-FEED) study whereby one of its objectives is to confirm the suitability of the selected site for the project.

Nogaholding has engaged Galway Group of US as its project Consultant. Galway has subcontracted WorleyParsons to carry out the Pre-Feed study. The Pre-Feed study will be completed by end of November 2013, it was revealed. - TradeArabia News Service
