Siemens to showcase power technology solutions

Abu Dhabi, November 17, 2013

Siemens, a leading powerhouse in electronics and electrical engineering, is set to showcase a range of power technologies at the GCC Power 2013 exhibition in Abu Dhabi.

The exhibition will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center from November 18 to 20.

The company will present innovations from both its energy, and infrastructure and cities sectors, with a focus on solutions that can significantly improve the efficiency and reliability of regional power supplies, said a statement.

Highlights will include the company’s fixed-mounted circuit-breaker 8DA-10 switchgear, designed for use in transformer and switching substations across a wide range of industries; and the Siemens 8DQ1-6 gas-insulated high-voltage switchgear, a new generation of switchgear noted for a high degree of versatility provided by its modular design.

Both systems have been designed for operation in regions with adverse ambient conditions, such as high levels of dust and humidity.

The company’s Smart Grid division will also be showcasing a new benchmark for protection, automation, control and monitoring of transmission grids - Siprotec5. Designed for the protection of systems and employees, the Siprotec5 family of field devices enable full data security and transparency throughout the entire lifecycle of the system, additionally saving time and reducing costs.

Siemens will also display wide area monitoring systems (WAMS) such as the Siguard PDP software as well as a simulation kit of the Distribution Feeder Automation technology.

“With the GCC’s demand for electricity rising quickly, there is a growing need for reliable, efficient power transmission and distribution systems, that can reduce losses and minimise power supply disruptions,” said Wolfgang Braun, head of Power Transmission, Siemens Middle East. - TradeArabia News Service
