Equate wins top Middle East CSR award

Equate Petrochemical Company won the ‘Environmental Program of the Year’ award during the annual Oil and Gas Middle East Awards 2013 ceremony, held in Abu Dhabi recently.

Mohammad Al Benali, VP technical services, said: “Such recognition is a result of Equate’s overall commitment to all sustainability related issues, especially the environment. For this purpose, we has launched several initiatives to ensure the environment’s safeguarding and preserving the environment through all possible means.

“The initiatives include Kuwait’s first and only seawater cooling towers, Kuwait’s first CO2 recovery project, as well as the Middle East’s first plant water recycle project. Such a focus on CSR has enabled Equate to manifest its world-class excellence at several levels and reflect its ‘Partners in Success’ tagline.”

Established in 1995, Equate is an international joint venture between Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC), The Dow Chemical Company (Dow), Boubyan Petrochemical Company (BPC) and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company (QPIC).

It is the single operator of a fully integrated manufacturing facility producing over five million tonnes annually of high-quality petrochemical products which are marketed throughout the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe. - TradeArabia News Service
