Major oil and gas safety event in Nov

Abu Dhabi, March 19, 2014

More than 400 delegates and 25 exhibitors are expected to take part in the fifth global Oil & Gas Safety and Competency Conference to be held in Abu Dhabi.

The Opito Safety and Competence Conference – OSCC 2014, claimed to be the only one of its kind wholly focused on safety and competency in the oil and gas industry, will take place on November 4 in the Fairmont Hotel, Abu Dhabi.

Under the title of “Leading from the Front-line”, the conference will explore the dynamic of effective leadership and change management on human behaviours in relation to safety.

Leaders from the oil and gas supply chain and world-renowned experts in change management will participate in keynote session and panel debate on how leadership can implement long-term high value change and ultimately a safer workforce.

David Doig, group chief executive for Opito, said: “As the industry moves into even more challenging environments and emerging oil and gas provinces in order to exploit hydrocarbons, the challenges of local content, skills shortages and a fragmented approach to training and standards impact on our ability to ensure a safe and competent workforce."

Last year’s event attracted over 350 delegates from 25 countries.

International training standards body, Opito, devised the event as part of its drive for common global standards across the oil and gas industry to improve safety and competence, said a statement. - TradeArabia News Service
