Bapco completes key eco audit

Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) has announced the successful completion of an environmental compliance audit for ISO 14001 standards.

The audit was done by Bureau Veritas, who said that with this Bapco had cleared the fifth surveillance audit of the current certification cycle, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

It highlighted the continuous improvement in all environmental aspects which is being driven by Bapco's top management to all levels in the organisation.

Bapco deputy chief executive for refining and marketing Ebrahim Talib, who's also chairman of the environment, health and safety committee, said the company continued to see improvement in all environmental aspects.

"Bapco is committed to the continued certification to ISO 14001 and external audits are an effective tool to identify improvements which can be made to our systems," he said.

He also thanked all the departments taking part, especially environmental affairs, oil storage and export, oil processing north, oil processing south, fire health and safety and shutdown and major maintenance.

He hailed their vital role in fostering Bapco's environment compliance with the objective of enhancing conservation.-TradeArabia News Service
